Overview

Answers may be deleted if they don't answer the question or no longer provide value to other contributors.

You can also delete your own answer and undelete it later if needed.

Why answers are deleted

Answers may be deleted if they:

  • Don't answer the question.
  • Lack accuracy, substance, or relevance.
  • Discuss the question or another answer instead of providing an answer.
  • Ask a different or unrelated question.
  • Consist only of a "thanks!" or "me too!" response.
  • Duplicate another answer.
  • Link to an external resource without including the answer in your post.

If an answer can be improved, edit it instead of deleting it.

For guidance on writing effective answers, see How do I write a good answer?.

Delete your own answer

You can delete an answer you wrote at any time, unless the question's author has accepted it.

To delete your answer, select Delete below the answer.

Deleted answers

When you delete your own answer:

  • The answer is hidden from other contributors.
  • You can still view the answer.
  • You can edit the answer.
  • You can undelete the answer.

Undelete an answer

If you deleted your own answer, select Undelete below the answer.
