Can I answer my own question?

Overview

You can ask and answer your own question to document knowledge and make it easier for other users to find helpful solutions.

You can submit your question and answer together, or add an answer after you've posted your question.

Answer your own question

If you already know the answer when asking your question, select Answer your own question near the bottom of the Ask a question page.

Enter your answer, then click Post your question and answer to submit both together.

If you don't answer your question when you post it, you can return and add your own answer at any time.

Accept your own answer

You can accept your own answer, but you must wait 48 hours after posting it.

Waiting 48 hours gives other users an opportunity to provide an alternative solution before you decide which answer best solves your question.
