Use this guide to understand why questions are marked as duplicates and what to do if your question is marked as one.
Why questions are marked as duplicates
A question may be marked as a duplicate when another question already provides the answer.
Keeping answers together makes information easier to find and helps contributors avoid creating duplicate questions.
When a question is marked as a duplicate
When a question is marked as a duplicate:
- It closes and no longer accepts new answers.
- It includes a link to the existing question.
- You can still view, comment on, vote on, and edit the question.
If you disagree
If you don't think your question is a duplicate, edit it to explain how it differs from the linked question.
If your question is still marked as a duplicate after you edit it, contact your site admin or moderator for further review.
If you have questions or issues, reach out to our support team for help.
