Email notification preferences
How do I manage my email notification settings?
Go to your profile avatar, then Settings, then Edit Email Settings. From there, you can manage:
- For You inbox: Set the frequency of personal notification emails (immediate, daily, or off).
- Community Digest: Receive a weekly summary of activity on your site.
- Tag watching: Receive email alerts for new questions posted with tags you follow.
To stop receiving all email notifications, turn off every category. If emails continue, check that you've disabled each setting.
Tag and SME notifications
How do I receive email notifications for questions in tags where I'm a subject matter expert?
SME (subject matter expert) designation automatically adds a tag watch to your account, and Stack Internal Enterprise sends you email notifications for new questions with that tag. You don't need to do anything else.
Admins manage tag-watching notifications in Admin Settings, then Email and Notifications.
How do I watch or unwatch a tag to control email alerts?
Users can adjust frequency by clicking on their profile avatar, then Settings, then Tag Watching and Ignoring.
How do I stop receiving tag notifications?
Go to your profile avatar, then Settings, then Tag Watching and Ignoring. Click Unsubscribe from all to stop receiving tag notifications.
When are Community Digest emails sent?
Stack Overflow sends digests weekly, but each user receives the digest on a different weekdays as the system distributes them across all five weekdays.
Check or change your settings by clicking on your profile avatar, then Settings, under communications settings, and click Community Digests.
Admins can manage this in Admin Settings, then Email notifications.
