This article answers frequently asked questions about Stack Overflow Internal subscription renewals, license management, and invoices.

Subscription management

What happens to my site and data if my subscription expires?
When your subscription expires, you have 60 days before we disable access to your site. After that, users will see a "Page not found" error.

We permanently delete your data 60 days after your subscription expires.

Can I reactivate my site after my subscription expires?
Yes, if you do so within 60 days. Check your email for the payment update link and follow the instructions to update your payment details. If you don’t receive an email, or run into a problem, contact Stack Overflow Product Support](https://support.stackenterprise.co/support/tickets/new?type=teams).

Can I downgrade my subscription from a paid plan to the free tier?
Yes. Before downgrading, download your data by clicking Admin Settings then Account information (under the "Billing" heading). Scroll down to the Download data option.

Because Stack Internal Basic and Business have data that Stack Internal Free does not, you will lose data after the downgrade unless you download it first.

After you've downloaded your data, contact Stack Overflow Product Support](https://support.stackenterprise.co/support/tickets/new?type=teams) to downgrade your subscription.

How do I cancel my Stack Internal subscription?
Click Admin Settings, then Plan. Scroll down and click Cancel subscription, then follow the cancellation steps. Before canceling, download your site content by clicking Admin Settings, then Account information (under the "Billing" heading). Scroll down to the Download data option.

How do I upgrade my plan?
Click Admin Settings, then Plan. Select the plan you'd like to upgrade to.

Licensing and users

Does deactivating a user release their license seat?
No. Deactivated users remain billable. You must delete a user to free up their license seat for reassignment.

How do I check my current user license count?
Click Admin Settings, then Users and permissions. The total next to "All" is your current license count.

What are the main differences between the Stack Internal Business, Free, and Basic plans?

Billing and invoices

How do I obtain an invoice or receipt for my subscription?
Click Admin Settings, then Payment History to download invoices.

Log in to your Stack Internal account and go to Settings, then Billing to download receipts and invoices.

Can I add a VAT ID on invoices?
Yes, by clicking Admin Settings, then Reference number.

We can't change past invoices, but all future invoices will reflect the updated details.
