TABLE OF CONTENTS
Overview
Stack Internal Ingestion is a subscription-based add-on that provides access to an automated pipeline for transforming unstructured, static content into structured, verified knowledge assets. The feature initially consists of three primary data ingestion methods: a multi-format file upload tool supporting over 10 file types (including .pdf, .docx, and .md), a secure Confluence Cloud connector, and an API endpoint, any or all of which may be updated from time to time by Stack.
Once ingested, content is processed by an AI engine that atomizes data into Q&A pairs, applies metadata tags, and assigns a confidence score based on accuracy and relevance. All processed content is then routed to a dedicated review queue, where designated subject matter experts must manually verify, edit, or approve each item before it is published to the instance as a Knowledge Object. Nothing is published automatically, ensuring that all resulting Knowledge Objects remain human-verified and governed.
Knowledge Object definition
A Knowledge Object is the core metric used to measure ingestion capacity. It is defined as a single Q&A pair that has been human-verified, approved, and published.
Subscription tiers available to Enterprise customers
All Stack Internal Enterprise sites receive a base allotment of 100 Knowledge Objects by default to experience the tool's value without initial friction. For higher volume needs, organizations can purchase premium tiered add-ons.
Included with the Enterprise plan
| Subscription tier | Knowledge Objects |
|---|---|
| Up to 100 | 100 per month |
Add-on paid tiers
| Subscription tier | Knowledge Objects |
|---|---|
| Up to 500 | 500 per month |
| Up to 2,500 | 2,500 per month |
| Up to 10,000 | 10,000 per month |
Usage caps and resets
To ensure system stability and alignment with subscription tiers, the platform enforces strict usage caps on ingested content.
Ingestion job freeze
When an organization exceeds its designated monthly limit of Knowledge Objects, the system will enter read-only mode.
- Frozen status All active and pending ingestion jobs will freeze until the cap is addressed.
- Restoring access Ingestion capabilities remain frozen until the organization either upgrades to a higher subscription tier or the monthly allotment resets in the subsequent cycle.
Reset schedules
The date on which your Knowledge Object counter resets depends on your subscription tier:
- Base allotment (foundation) The 100 Knowledge Object entitlement resets according to the calendar month, starting on the 1st day of the month and ending on the last day.
- Premium tiers If you purchase a higher tier, the monthly reset is aligned to the subscription start date in which the order was executed.
There is no rollover of unused Knowledge Objects; any unused capacity at the end of a cycle is forfeited.
Billing and subscription rules
The Ingestion add-on is designed to scale with your organization's needs, aligning commercial success with your expanding knowledge repository.
- Term Length Subscriptions require a minimum term of 12 months.
- Proration New tiers purchased mid-cycle are prorated from the day of activation through the end of the current billing period.
- Renewals At the end of the term, the base Enterprise subscription and the Ingestion add-on consolidate into a single renewal event.
